When Debanjana reached out to us a few months ago, she was still planning a grand Indian wedding with her soulmate Srijan. As everything spiralled towards uncertainty with the COVID-19 crisis, their plans too were swept into the whirlwind. But then, doesn’t love triumph everything – especially now when we need it the most? And so this heartwarming intimate wedding was planned and we were honored to be a part of this celebration of two souls entwining as one.
The Intimate Wedding Decor
The wedding was hosted at Srijan’s family home in Hisar and the couple picked a vibrant theme to bring in the festive air. Pink and Turquoise were the primary colors, dotted gracefully with shades of white and peach.
The couple chose eco-friendly decor, opting for artificial flowers and a canopy of hanging foliage from above. The details were amplified with creating a curtain block between the entrance door of the home to the street to ensure an unobstructed experience for their guests. The beautiful mandap was erected in the private garden and had arranged for comfortable seating for attendees.
The Colorful Haldi
Haldi can never be devoid of fun with these two lovebirds situated right in the midst of the action. As streaks of yellow marked their faces, there were bursts of laughs, plenty of teasing and lots of fun! The couple wore vibrant yellows and the ceremonies took place in the backyard.
The bride looked like a dream in her floral jewels and delicately embroidered salwar kameez. The intimacy of the affair allowed everyone to focus on the moments and not worry over the arrangements.
The Chooda Ceremony
The signature deep red chooda was adorned on Debanjana’s delicate wrists as her family bid her with all their love and best wishes. She beamed with her ethereal smile as shimmering kaleeras were added to the bangles.
The Intimate Wedding
After a cozy day with loved ones, the couple dappered up for the big evening. A stunning floral wall served as the backdrop for their jaimala ceremony and the wedding was streamed on Zoom for everyone missing to join in. The serenity of the close knit affair was almost surreal. As everyone settled around them and the vows were exchanged – an air of romance filled everyone’s hearts. Despite a lot going against their plans, they finally made love overpower it all. A simple ceremony allowed them to really enjoy their day and their togetherness. And one can’t stress enough on the color coordinated masks!
The Romance of an Intimate Wedding
We have shot innumerable big Indian weddings in the past 8 years but shooting an intimate wedding really made us appreciate the romance of it. A small wedding allows for the family and most importantly – the couple to truly enjoy their day without being bogged down by the little details. It makes one realize that love isn’t about the grand gestures but about the little simple joys that bring two people together as one.
The sheer beauty of watching a couple commit to forever with each other still makes us giddy with emotions. When it came time to do their portraits, we wanted to bring out the power of this love and so we opted for some silhouettes along with formal portraits. The one that stands out for us is Srijan kissing Debanjana’s forehead as the backdrop glows in red.
Numerous couples are opting for intimate weddings, realising that love deserves celebrating despite all odds. The story of this intimate wedding will forever be radiant in our hearts and we can’t wait to shoot more such brilliant love stories that makes us love our work so much as wedding photographers.
